We all are very much used to Googling. But very few of us have really exploited the ‘real’ power of Google.

Here I will explain you how to refine your search for better, faster and accurate results. It is really simple…

Before we jump into the tips, let us first understand the result page terminology. The below image highlights some of the important terms..

Now let us understand how to refine the Google search…

Search Operators

AND operator : can be used to combining to search term like Sunny AND India This will show the results which contain both terms Sunny and India. (note that you have to type ‘AND’ in ALL CAPS)

OR operator : can be used to search for either one or both term like Sunny OR India This will show the results which contain either Sunny or India or Both.

+ operator: This means that search term must be included in search results like Sunny +India.

- operator: This means search them must be excluded from search results like Sunny -India.

* operator: is used for fill in the blanks eg: Obama voted * on the * bill.

site: can be used  to search within a specific website eg. Sunny site:yahoo.com this query  shows the result from yahoo.com which includes Sunny.

intitle: is used to search the title for the search term eg. intitle:Sunny this query shows the results  which includes Sunny in title .

inurl: is used to search the URL for search term eg. inurl:sunny this query shows the result which includes sunny in URL.

intext: is to find particular search term in text eg. intext:Sunny Verma this query shows the result which includes Sunny Verma in text.

ext: or filetype: is used to search particular term in specific file type eg: Sunny Verma ext:pdf or Sunny Verma filetype:pdf this query will search for pdf file which has term  Sunny Verma
